Women who cannot physically bear children... or choose not to…
Who bear mothering everything and everyone with all their heart
Who choose to adopt an infant or child who so very much needs a home
Women who become step mothers before they have their own children
Who bear a new relationship or marriage and new children at the same time.
Mothers who die in childbirth... Who bear the role of guardian angel of their child
Mothers whose child is miscarried... Who bear an ache that is unforgettable
Mothers whose child is stillborn.... Who bear an angst that is unspeakable.
Mothers whose child is born with special needs..
Who bear an anxiety that is unrelenting
Mothers whose child dies so very, very young...
Who bear a grief that is inconsolable
Mothers who are so young... (still children themselves)
Who bear a stigma and world view that is unforgiving.
Mothers who are more mature (use the word 'old'? not me!)...
Who bear a feeling of being young again.
I know a Mother who had twins at age 52...
She says they make her feel young again....
I think I'd rather have a perm, buy a new outfit,
Or look into my grandchildren's eyes
I am nearly her age myself... yet, a part of me envies her.
Mothers who are naturals... Who bear a grace and confidence that glows.
Mothers who struggle... Who bear a heart that strives for confidence and grace.
Mothers who stay at home... Who bear the 'pause' in the steps of their outer life...
And don't miss their child(ren)'s first steps.
Mothers who work at home...
Who bear the best of both worlds and still feel torn and divided
Mothers who work outside the home...
Who bear a daily life that feels years long some days...
And all too short some days
Mothers who are single... deserted, divorced or widowed...
either soon or late in their lives...
Who bear it all alone.
Mothers whose children have children...
Who bear their grandchildren as their own
Mothers whose children achieve great things...
Who bear great pride
Mothers whose children fail...
Who bear deep sorrow
Mothers whose children love them, honor them and cherish them...
Who bear sweet peace
Mothers whose children hate them, dishonor them and belittle them...
Who bear bitter anguish
Mothers whose children live too close for comfort...
Who bear more than they bargained for
Mothers whose children live too far away for comfort...
Who bear less than they ever can replace
Mothers whose lives I cannot even begin to imagine... or write about.
Bless us all...
Written as a woman who is...
A daughter, granddaughter, niece, sister, cousin, friend,
girlfriend, soul mate, lover, wife, mother, divorced wife, aunt, grandmother...
And so much more.
